"Nathan, God has granted you many gifts, not just leading worship, but a gentle and warm spirit that is not only very engaging to people but also a wonderful reflection on God." -- Dave Peterson, Pastor, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Houston, TX "The talents that the Lord has placed in Nathan are great ... his storytelling, beautiful lyrics and impressive guitar skills were complemented by his talented voice. I praise God that he uses them for the Lord's glory! The Lord has placed a sweet anointing upon Nathan." -- Carol Anne Hankinson, Worship Arts Director, Upper Room Assembly, Gatesville, NC Having performed in venues all over the world, Australia's NATHAN TASKER still has the same mission: to use music to connect people to the reality of God’s love. The "greatest story ever told" is an integral part of Nathan Tasker's story. With six top ten radio singles, including three consecutive number ones and nationwide press and media coverage, Nathan is Australia's premier male Christian artist. In 2005 he was awarded Pacific Songwriter of the Year – top honors in the Southern Hemisphere's most lucrative mainstream songwriting competition. To cap it all off, Nathan was honored as 2006 Artist Of the Year (an award previously won by Michael W. Smith and Stacie Orrico) by The Rock Across Australia (TRAA), Australia's national Christian music charts, and "Like You Love Me," his number one smash hit, was named 2006 Song Of The Year. These awards recognize Nathan as the artist gaining the most airplay on Australian Christian radio as well as the song that generated the most airplay across the nation's largest Christian stations. At the center of it all is the timeless message of God’s love for mankind. "I am always humbled by and thankful for the fact that God's love for me is not based upon my performance, but on the death of His own perfect Son," says Nathan. Armed with impressive guitar skills and engaging honesty he is determined to get his message out to people via energetic live performances as well as through his albums. His current album, Must Be More, was produced in Nashville by a team heralded as the top of the industry. This includes producer Charlie Peacock (Switchfoot, Nicole Nordeman, Audio Adrenaline), along with feature artists Steve Mason (Jars of Clay) and Matt Slocum (Sixpence None the Richer). "I met with the production team [which also included Out of the Grey's Scott Dente and engineer Richie Biggs]," says Tasker, "and it was quite incredible to work with them on my songs. They are exceptionally talented people... it inspired me to be more creative." Needless to say Must Be More shows a dedication to quality songwriting, musicianship and production. He also takes his responsibility as a role model for others very seriously. "There is a need for people to respond to truth in a way that isn't just about selling CDs. It's about understanding life; it's about engaging with a God who is real, a God who wants us to know him. And I want to be the role model for that." "The new album, Must Be More, represents me writing and sharing very honestly, without inhibitions. It's a lot more personal and engaging than my previous albums. I have done a lot of reading about the enormity of the relationship we are in with God, and that's reflected on this CD. "My best songs are still inside me; they're still coming out." We look forward to watching and listening as new songs, new ideas, and new lyrics are made available for the inspiration and encouragement of believers and non-believers alike. |
